Spring Spanish Classes at Lake Oswego

     The Spring Spanish language classes at Lake Oswego start the week of April 1 and run through June 4, 2010. They are open to anyone over age 14 interested in learning Spanish. Courses are held once a week for the period of 10 weeks. Beginning 1 is for those who have never taken Spanish or at least have not taken Spanish in several years. All classes are being taught by Mercedes Cohan.

Methods of Registration

     Most classes are available for registration using the Internet. Payment by Visa or MasterCard is required. Go to:/www.lakeoswegoparks.org. f you need computer access, there are computers at the West End Building at 4101 Kruse Way Blvd., Adult Community Center, 505 G Ave., or the Library at 706 4th St.

     If you would rather register via snail mail, you can access and print out a registration form by clicking here to go to City of Lake Oswego site. Click the green link box Forms and Documents and under the title Forms and Documents, click Class/Activity Resgistration Form. Send the completed registation form with payment to: Lake Oswego Parks & Recreation, P.O. Box 369, Lake Oswego, OR 97034. Make checks payable to City of Lake Oswego. VISA and MasterCard are accepted. You may also bring your completed registration form during business hours to: Parks & Recreation, West End Building at 4101 Kruse Way, Tennis Center, Golf Course, or Adult Community Center (ACC). It is also possible to fax your registration form to 503.697.6579 with full payment using your Visa or MasterCard. (Please call to confirm receipt.)

     Also, you can register by phone. However, do have your registration form complete with Visa or MasterCard number and call 503.675.2549. Due to the high volume of calls, you may prefer to use another option.

Current Term Registration

     Registration for winter and spring 2010 begins at 10 a.m, December 14, 2009. Lake Oswego residents receive priority placement until December 18. Residents know immediately upon registering whether or not they are in a class or on a wait list. Non-resident registrations are accepted, but held on separate wait lists until December 18 when the wait lists are processed on a first registered basis. Notification of final class/wait list status is mailed to non-residents December 18. After non-resident wait lists have been processed, registration is open to all on a first-come, first-served basis.

Course Fees

The fee for the Spring 2010 Spanish classes is $64.00 for Residents and $74 for Non-Residents.

Scholarships

     Scholarships for most classes are available to residents who need financial assistance, regardless of age. The scholarship program is funded by donations. More information on receiving a scholarship or donating to the fund is available by calling 503.635.0282.

Enrollment Confirmation

     An enrollment confirmation is mailed to you or, if you register by Internet, e-mailed to you, or you may print your own confirmation. If a class is full, you are placed on a wait list, and your fee is refunded upon request. If minimum enrollment is not met, Parks & Recreation reserves the right to cancel the class, and those enrolled receive a full refund.

Cancelations

     Classes held in schools do not meet when Lake Oswego schools are closed due to legal holidays, weather, or other unforseen emergencies. Call Parks & Recreation regarding cancelations at other class locations. Some classes fill quickly, and some may be canceled due to insufficient enrollment. Minimum enrollment standards must be met five working days prior to the start of class. Early registration is encouraged.

Refunds

     For a refund, you must notify the Parks & Recreation office that you wish to cancel a class at least three working days prior to the first class. A $5 processing fee is charged for each refunded class. In lieu of a refund, you may request a credit, and the $5 fee is waived. All credits are nonrefundable once issued and must be used prior to the end of the fiscal year (June 30). A refund under $24 is granted only as a credit toward a future class (non-credit card only).

Class Location

     The Lake Oswego Parks & Recreation Spanish classes are all held at the LOACC (Lake Oswego Adult Community Center) which is located on 505 G Avenue, Lake Oswego, OR 97034.
